2015 Guest Speaker — Luke Sauer

Luke Sauer is a Director of Photography and Steadicam operator with over 10 years of experience working in television and independent film.  A graduate of the U.C. Santa Cruz Film and Digital Media program, he is a winner of several Telly awards in photography.  During his career, Luke has seen shifts in style, technology, and final delivery and has learned the importance of keeping current with these trends in the industry.

Through his work with Northern California production company Indigo Films, Luke has contributed to network programming on CBS, Discovery Channel, Travel Channel, History Channel, TLC and Spike.  Upcoming projects include the 8th season of “I Almost Got Away With It” for the Discovery Channel, documentary “The Tenor from Abidjan”, and a feature film which will start production in early 2016.

Working on documentary, scripted and reality programming has taken Luke around the globe to the most interesting and challenging locations. His work has opened doors to people and events that had never lived in his wildest dreams.  From remote Alaska to the streets of Rio De Janeiro and The Ivory Coast, working as a camera operator has proven a constant but amazing challenge. Luke’s goal is always to bring home the best visual story of each person he meets and every place he experiences.
